My Name is Asher Lev // Chaim Potok.

“If Dostoevsky is the window to the Russian mind, then Chaim Potok is to the Jewish-American mind.”

Chaim Potok painfully but truthfully, much like Asher Lev’s paintings, crafts this novel. Personally, this book is bigger than the question of faith’s interaction with art. This book is about two cultures — one barely surviving and the other ravenously thriving — going head-on. The result is beautiful. The result is agonizing. The result is wonderful.

Read and experience the loss and the gain of the boy named Asher Lev.
